Sapele, which performs well in millwork applications, is harvested in Tropical Africa. This species has a moderate resistance to decay and insects, and turns, glues, nails and finishes well. It also saws easily. Its heartwood is golden to dark reddish brown, and the color darkens handsomely with age. Sapele has a fine uniform texture and a good luster, with an interlocked grain.
