Our Makore is harvested from Western and Middle Africa and is commonly used in Millwork applications such as furniture, cabinetry, musical instruments, and other small wooden specialty objects. Makore is very durable and has good insect resistance. The heartwood is pink or reddish brown, sometimes with darker streaks and mild color variation. Figured grain patterns are also not uncommon.
