CA Prop 65

California Proposition 65, officially known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, became law in 1986. Recently Proposition 65 was amended and requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about significant exposures to chemicals that are known or believed to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Though wood is a product of nature and is used extensively in products throughout the world, wood dust is on the state of California’s list of potential cancer-causing chemicals. As a steward of global resource, OHC monitors regulatory, health and safety issues, as well as environmental impact of using one of the most renewable resources on the plant – wood products. In complying with the amendments to Proposition 65, OHC will add the following Product Warning labels on bundles of lumber sold into California.
