Our Bosse is sourced from West and Central Africa and is commonly used as an alternative to Spanish Cedar. Both are members of the Meliaceae or Mahogany Tree Family and closely resemble one another in appearance and aroma. Bosse is used primarily for exterior works, doors, paneling, moldings, baseboards, trims, and carpentry for interior & exterior. Heartwood initially a pale pinkish brown, darkening with age to a more golden to medium brown. Pale yellowish sapwood is well defined. Can be highly figured, with grain patterns such as pommele being sought after in veneer form. Grain is irregular, wavy or interlocked, slightly moiré.
