Jatoba

Jatoba is harvested from South America and is commonly known as “Brazilian Cherry.”  It is used for a variety of Millwork products such as furniture, cabinetry, turned objects and other small specialty items, as well as flooring. It is relatively hard to work with because of its density and interlocked grain. Jatoba is very durable and resistant to termites. Its heartwood varies from light orangish to brown to darker reddish brown, sometimes with contrasting darker grayer brown streaks. The colors will darken with age, especially upon exposure to light.
